Rocks for Brains

I've received a lot of comments from the last post. One person (who shall remain nameless) told me I must have "rocks for brains". Others have more subtly suggested Silas wear a bib or go shirtless. So now I have to say, I don't normally let him make such a mess with his food. But, then again, maybe I do have rocks for brains because I let him do it again the following day...this time while we were making pumpkin cookies. (Though, notice, he is shirtless this time!)

I can't help it...Silas (and I) have so much fun making messes. Though the fun sometimes ends in tears. Check it out:

PS - Happy Birthday MaMarcia!! Just think, if you weren't so far away in Costa Rica...we might be mixing up a cake for you today. Though I don't know how many people would want to sample Silas' cooking just yet. It is a little "hands-on".

Silas looks thrilled - if the kiddo is happy and you don't mind letting the dog clean up the mess, then what's the harm? LOL. Those must be some pretty smart rocks if you have rocks for brains.

We actually learned in a pediatric speech and language pathology class that it's good to let them REALLY explore food. Eating should be an experience for them.
I've tried to remember that and forget about the mess every now and then :)
Silas looks adorable dressed in his food!!

Thanks guys! I'd never thought of letting the dog clean him up. Hmmmmm. That might be a whole new level of fun. Or maybe not. He went straight to the bathtub that time. In the summer I'll probably hose him off outside!
